Problems on trains - Stationary object  with length

In this section, we consider that the stationary object has length for example, train station and try to find the time taken by the train to completely cross this object.

To do this we simply add the length of the object and train and use it to calculate time taken to cross the object.

Formulae used

Consider that length of train is 'a' and length of object is 'b' then

 collective length(l) = (a+b)

\[Time\: taken = \frac{l}{speed} \]

\[speed \: km/hr = \left ( speed \: \times \: \frac{5}{18} \right )m/sec \]
