Problem on trains - Two trains/objects travelling in same direction

When two trains or objects travel in same direction, their speed tends to cancel out each other hence we consider relative speed as the difference between their speeds .

Suppose two trains or two bodies are moving in the same direction at u m/s and v m/s , where u > v, then relative speed = (u-v) m/s

Formulae Used

Time taken = length of train /relative speed

Calculating time taken by the train to completely cross an object

Formula : Time = train length / relative speed
