Problems on trains - Two trains/objects traveling in opposite direction

When two trains or objects travels in opposite direction, their speed adds up hence we consider relative speed as sum of  their speeds.

Suppose two trains or two bodies are moving in the opposite direction at u m/s and v m/s ,  then relative speed = (u+v) m/s

Formulae Used

Time taken = length of train /relative speed

Calculating time taken by the train/ object to completely cross each other

Formula : Time = train length / relative speed
