Calculations based on Time and Work

Time and work

  1. If A can do a piece of work in n days , then A's 1 day is = 1/n
  2. If A's 1 day's work =1,then A can finish the work in n days.
  3. If A is thrice as good a workman as B, then:Ratio of work done by A and B = 3 : 1.Ratio of times taken by A and B to finish a work = 1 : 3.

If A, B and C can together finish a work in n days then

(A + B + C)'s work done in n days = 1/n.

If A and B can finish a work in x days , B and C can finish in y days , A and C can finish it in z days then we calculate

2(A + B + C)'s 1 day of work  = (1/x) + (1/y) + (1/z).
