The reservation in India was introduced in the country's deprived sections to join the mainstream of the society. Certainly the sections deprivation of the reservation has certain benefits, but it is also the fact that a small part of these deprived classes is receiving the benefit of the reservation not only the whole class, so reservation could not accomplish its purpose.
- Recently renowned historian Ramchandra Guha has said that India's reservation policy has raised questions in place of answering the questions.
- There are anti-reservation movements across the country today. The biggest thing is that these reservations are being departed by the empowering castes of the anti-agitating society. Jaat agitators in Haryana, Patidar in Gujarat and Maratha movement in Maharashtra are examples of anti-reservation movements. Their demand is either to end the reservation or to provide reservation to themselves.
Is this solution rooted in quality education and skill development?
This type of problem can be avoided by creating opportunities for employment and employing young population. To provide employment to the young population, the first is to make it rich in quality education and skills.
The Government should invest in capacity building to get the benefit of the demographic dividend.
To get better profit from schemes like Maanrega, these should be used to provide quality skill training to the youth.
- Educational programmes should be made to result based. That is currently given full emphasis on increasing enrollment only.
The recommendations of the Sharda Prasad Committee should be implemented earliestly. I.e. the Sharda Prasad Committee was recommended for the introduction of commercial courses under the Ministry of Human Resources.
- If a quality education is provided to the young population and they are given global skill training, there would be no problem in actually employing them.
- The youth should be provided with technical education so that they can better adjust themselves in this age of information.
- Education based on values should be provided to prevent India's skilled engineers and experts from moving out of India. We have to establish control over the brain-drain to encourage the brain gain.
- As well as promoting the agriculture sector and encouraging farmers to have professional agriculture. Jnatavy that almost half the population of the country is involved in agriculture and coriander the profession of agricultural deficit.
- The growth will strengthen the manufacturing sector so as to provide additional labor force in agriculture to train the skill development to be employed in the manufacturing sector.
Conclusion:-
We can say that the major reason behind the anti-reservation movements is employment. If the youth of the country can be employed to provide quality education and skill development, it can be dealt with in a situation of sorts.
