Reservation in India was started with the aim of incorporating the deprived sections of the country into mainstream society. Certainly there is definitely some benefit to the disadvantaged sections, but it is also the fact that only a small portion of these deprived sections are getting the benefit of the reservation, and not the whole class, therefore the reservation has not been able to fulfill its purpose.
Recently, renowned historian Ramchandra Guha has said that the reservation policy of India has raised questions rather than answering the questions. Today anti-reservation agitations are being run across the country. The biggest thing is that these anti-reservation agitations are being run by the powerful castes of the society. Jat in Haryana, Patidar in Gujarat and Maratha movement in Maharashtra are examples of these anti-reservation movements. Their demand is either to end the reservation or to provide self-reservation.
Is its solution contained in multi-faceted education and skill development?
- Certainly this kind of problems can be avoided by creating new opportunities for employment and by employing the young population. To provide employment to the young population, first of all, it should be made of quality education and skill.
- The government should invest in capacity building to get benefit of the demographic dividend.
- To get better dividends from schemes like MNREGA, they should be used in providing quality skill training to the youth.
- Educational programs should be tailored to the result. It is known that at present only the full emphasis is given on enhancing enrollment.
- The recommendations of the Sharada Prasad Committee should be implemented as soon as possible. It is known that the Sharda Prasad Committee has recommended the introduction of vocational courses under the Human Resources Ministry.
- If quality education is provided to the young population and they are trained in the global level, then surely there will be no problem in planning them.
- Technical education should be provided to the youth so that they can better accommodate themselves in this age of information technology.
- Education based on values should be provided so as to prevent India's skilled engineers and experts from leaving out of India. We have to encourage brain drain by installing control over brain drain.
- Simultaneously, the agriculture sector has to be encouraged and encouraged farmers for commercial agriculture. It is known that nearly half of the country's population is engaged in agriculture and the profession of agricultural deficit is maintained.
- Most of the manufacturing sector will have to be strengthened so that the additional labor force engaged in agriculture can be employed in manufacturing by providing training to skill development.
Conclusion:
It can be concluded that the main reason behind the anti-reservation movements is employment. If the youth of the country can be employed by providing training in quality education and skill development, then this type of situation can certainly be dealt with.
