Dumping resistance detection on solar panel imports from China, Taiwan

The Directorate General of Anti-Doping and Allied Duties (DGAD) has stopped investigations in the case of import of solar panels from China, Taiwan and Malaysia.

  • Under the Ministry of Commerce, DGAD examines anti-dumping cases. This inquiry was stopped at the request of the Indian Solar Manufacturers Association.
  • DGAD started investigation on July 21 last year on the complaint of association.
  • It was informed in the notification issued from the Directorate that all the investigations in this case have been closed.
  • The domestic industry has cited many reasons in the request given to stop the investigation. It has been said in the request that loss of domestic manufacturers has increased since the investigation began.
  • It has also been said that in recent days the imports from these countries have increased. The Directorate said in the notification that the reasons cited by the industry are not worthy.

However, under the rule 14 (A) of anti-dumping law, if the domestic industry makes a written request to stop the investigation, then the DGAD has no privilege to continue the investigation.
