Govans have been given importance in Indian culture since ancient times. For example, the humpback bull was worshiped under the Harappa civilization. Similarly, in the Vedic period, the highest importance was given to the cow only by the Aryans. This importance is always being made. Even today, the cow has the status of a sacred animal in the Hindu community. This is the reason that some time before the Rajasthan High Court it was said that the cow should be given the status of the national animal. Before reaching any decision in this regard, it would be necessary to assess the arguments given in its favor and opposition before it should be given the status of a national animal.
Argue in favor of declaring cow as a national animal:
- With the status of National Animal status to cow, the objective mentioned in the Indian Constitution can be met. It is important that Article 48 of the Indian Constitution clearly states that the state will try to organize agriculture and animal husbandry with modern and scientific systems. Especially, for the preservation and improvement of the breed of cows and calves and other breed animals and carrier animals and will take steps to protest their slaughter.
- The cow is a very versatile animal. The horns of the cow have the ability to provide protection from cosmic rays. Where compost fodder and cow urine are manufactured from cow's dung, cow urine is used as a variety of Ayurvedic medicines. Thus, the cow can be protected by providing status of National Animal.
- The cow is considered to be the best animal for milk production. This has helped greatly boost the milk production of the country.
- India is still an agricultural country where animal labor is still used by poor farmers. Thus, the biggest benefit of keeping the cow safe will be to help keep agriculture safe.
- The declaration of cow as a national animal will help to preserve local breeds. By keeping local breeds safe, racial diversity will be maintained so that further new breeds can be developed.
- Giving cow to the national animal status will help to satisfy the feelings of the vast religious group of the country which argue that allowing the execution of cow is harm to the fundamental rights of their religious freedom. .
- By keeping the cow safe, more research can be done on its dung and urine etc. which can help in the development of new Ayurvedic medicines.
- The cow is the only animal that releases oxygen from oxygen. It is thus obvious that the cow is a useful animal, which is very important to keep it safe.
Arguments in opposition to the declaration of cow as a national animal:
- If the cow is nationally begged and its slaughter is banned, then it can hurt the minority's affliction and they may consider themselves self-deduced from society.
- The biggest loss is to raise those who are engaged in the meat business of the cow. These people may have to face unemployment, which can lead to the problem of unemployment in the country more serious.
- Similarly, the leather industry will suffer losses. The country will have to import the leather of its own requirement from abroad so that precious foreign currency will go out and the economy will be weakened.
- The cow can be harmed by the secular fabric of India by being caught nationally. The reason for this is that despite the opposition of a group, the government is encouraging religious issues.
- Since the cow is a pet, it is not protected under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. This act provides protection to wild animals only. This is the reason why various states have made different laws for the protection of the cow. Directly, the Central Government should not make laws etc regarding the protection of the cow.
- The cow's meat meal is related to the freedom of choice and freedom of food, so it will not be appropriate steps to ban the cow by nationally breeding and selling its meat.
- India exports huge quantities of foreign currency by exporting cow's meat. If this was put in place, then the country would have to face huge financial loss.
- If the cow is nationally be felled, then it can be very heavy burden on farmers who cultivate it. It is known that the farmers used to give them bills after the absence of the cows, but after being cartelized they will not be able to do so which will increase the burden on them.
Conclusion-
It can be concluded that although the cow has been given a significant place in the Indian society, it would not be fair to declare it as a national animal.
