Rural tourism has started long ago, but rural tourism is being promoted as an industry in the present time. Governments of different states of India are giving priority to rural tourism because it is also important for the country's economy as well as making important contribution in providing employment.

                         

            Two types of activities are mainly involved in rural tourism. Form tourism is included in the first activity. Farm tourism means to introduce tourists to the activities related to agriculture and methods related to agriculture. Tourists feel rural life under second activity.

Influence on rural infrastructure by promoting rural tourism:

  • In the villages related to promoting rural tourism, all the basic amenities are developed which is essential for tourists.
  • For example, it is necessary for tourists to have proper transport, living, food etc. With the promotion of tourism, the focus of the government and the local administration is to automatically focus on these facilities.
  • When a village is selected as the center of tourism, only the village does not develop infrastructure, but all the villages and towns falling in the way connecting that village to the city develop.

Social impact of rural tourism:-

  • Rural tourism deals with connecting villages to the outside world. This increases the mental horizons of the villagers.
  • Foreign tourists observe the behavior of the villagers through rural tourism. The villagers are also affected by their modes. In this way, mutual harmony is promoted between the two.

Economic Impact of Rural Tourism:

  • Rural tourism gets extra opportunities for people to increase their income. The reason for this is that due to the promotion of tourism, many jobs related to the service sector are created in the rural areas.
  • With the increase in rural tourism, many employment activities are encouraged to meet the various needs of tourists.
  • Most of the rural people, who are the centers of tourism, can create jobs for themselves in very little investment.

Cultural Impact of Rural Tourism:-

  • Tourists' culture in foreign and urban areas coming to the rural areas is different. Similarly, the culture of the people of the villages is different from them. Rural tourism becomes the medium of harmony between these cultures.
  • The cultural heritage of the rural area is promoted and it gets global recognition.
  • Above all, rural tourism extends not only the social-cultural scope of the villagers, but tourists also bring back the culture of that village, such as Regional language, living music, music etc. with them.
