Ethics refers to the accepted values and standards of society. Changes are also seen in these societies accepted values and parameters according to location and time. We all know that legislation is made by the legislature. The violation of these laws is considered a punishable offense, but it is not necessary to be punished for violation of ethics.
Many times in human life such situations arise that ethics and law cannot be followed simultaneously. The reason for this is that any act that is morally right is not necessarily legally correct. For example, if a sick person has to violate the traffic rules to get to a hospital, then this act would be morally correct but it would be wrong in law.
Incident of life when a conflict between law and morality arose:
- During our engineering studies, there was a strict rule in our hostel that no student will go out after 12 o'clock in the night.
- One day I got a phone call from a close friend at two o'clock that one of his relatives was injured in the accident. His blood group was O-. So this blood group is not able to find.
- Since my blood group is also O-. (O negative) so my friend called me. The doctors said that if there is delay in giving blood, the life of the accident may be at risk.
- Since the hostel rules did not go out after 12 o'clock in the night, there was a problem for me.
- On one side there was a moral obligation to save one's life; on the other hand, there was a compulsion to follow the rules of the hostel.
- First of all I told the hostel Warden and the Gatekeeper everything but they did not give permission.
- For this reason, I decided to go out of the hostel forcefully by breaking the wall. At the time, blood was given to the person by whom his life survived.
Conclusion:-
It can be concluded that circumstances in life arise when simultaneous law and ethics are not possible. In such a situation, we have to take steps in the human race and the humanity will have to give preference to the law as the law is ultimately made for humanity.
