For proper monitoring of electrification by the Central Government launched a web portal named Saubhagya.

  • The web portal, ' Saubhagya’, has been launched under the 'Pradhan Mantri Sahitya Electricity Har Ghar Yojana' i.e. the good fortune scheme. It will be able to monitor the overall web portal electrification. It will provide the status of the progress of the electrification of houses on monthly, district and state level so that the actual situation of electrification can be obtained.

  • It is to be noted that by the Central Government, the target of electrifying every household in the country has been fixed by December, 2018. This web portal will help the Central Government achieve this above target.
  • Power distribution companies and State Electricity Department will be able to collect statistics in electronic form through the ‘Saubhagya’ web portal; so that they will be able to find out which house has electricity connections available.
  • There is also a 'feature' available for organizing camps to bring awareness about electrification in rural areas in the ‘Saubhagya’ web portal. According to this 'feature', camps will be organized in rural areas by the power distribution companies and the connection of electricity will also be provided for immediate application.
  • 'Fortunately' web portal will not only intensify the electrification of rural and urban areas but will also improve quality by ensuring transparency. This will also help in paying the electricity bill to the poor.
