Recently, the National Nutrition Strategy was released in the auspices of the Policy Commission. This National Nutrition Strategy covers determining elements such as health, food, income and service related to nutrition.

Most notably, the National Nutrition Strategy has not only set target of India free from malnutrition but also has been arranged for proper implementation and monitoring for achieving this goal. It is known that about one-third of the country's children are underweight. India has been ranked 100th among the 119 countries in the recently released 'Global Hunger Index', whereas in the same index last year India was given 97th place.

Major goals set out under National Nutrition Strategy:

Currently, the level of minus 35.7 percent is in children under 5 years of age. It has been decided to reduce it to 20.7 percent by 2022.

Reduction of blood loss that is called Anemia from 6 months to 5 years in the current 58.4% to 19.5% by 2022 .

Similarly, the level of anemia in girls and females 15 to 49 years is currently 53.1 percent, which is to be reduced to one third of the population ie 17.7 percent by 2022.

Nutrition has been given the highest priority in National Nutrition Strategy, because nutrition is considered to be a healthy life as well as the basis of human development and economic benefits.

Above all, in this national nutrition strategy, gender sensitivity and inclusive nature have been kept in the center of implementation.

How will the dreams of malnutrition free India be fulfilled by 2030?

In the National Nutrition Strategy, as a long-term goal till the year 2030, the goal of eliminating all types of short-term nutrition from the country has been set. The following steps will be taken to achieve this goal.

Under the National Nutrition Strategy, the states will be integrated for the creation of malnourished free India and they will be encouraged to take district level action along with the state level.

Priority-based action will be taken, i.e. first attempt will be to bring benefits to the most disadvantaged sections.

Most pregnant women and children below 3 years of age will be given the most stress.

Empowering community based action and surveillance system.

          It can be concluded that the National Nutrition Strategy is inspired by the purpose of creating a healthy India. Under this, on the prescribed steps, definitely, malnutrition free India can be built by 2030.
