The quadrilateral group is a group involving India US , Japan and Australia to build strategic partnerships to counter China assertiveness.
The benefit of involving Britain and france-
* Economic - India can benefited from the financial support Britain and Europe can provide.
* Security - presence of these nation in island in Indian ocean can help India in dealing with Chinese naval presence in Indian ocean.
* Political- if India support Britain and Europe in getting membership of quad, there may be chances that these countries can support India in its bid to attain membership of various international groups.
But there is a flip side of the coin-
* They are extra regional power- there may be chance that it may suppress India.
* their capacity and willingness to engage in tough operations in the region is suspect in case the US chickens out—and the unreliability of the US .
* Britain and Europe consider Russia their primary security threat more than China. Hence chance they may not provide support to counter China in quad.
CONCLUSION:Thus there are both positive and negative if including Britain and Europe in the quad. All is need if they are included then it should be ensured they should effectively follow the mandate for which the quad is formed.
