Important factors of PMUY:-
- The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was Launched on 1 may 2016 which aims to provide cooking gas connections to five crore below-poverty-line beneficiaries over the next three yearsand it will benefit the poor, especially the women.
- PMUY will provide 5 crore LPG connections to BPL families with a support of 1600 rs. the connection will be given in the name of women beneficiaries.
- It is being implemented by Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. It is for the first time this ministry is Implementing a welfare scheme.
- Identification of BPL families will be made in consultation with state governments and Union territories.
- Equated Monthlyy Installment facility for meeting the cost of stove and refill cost.
- Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had announced about the schemein his 2016-17 Budget with a budgetary provision of 2000 crore rupees.
- It will be Implemented over three years' time frame namely in 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19.
Now current status of this scheme the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved to enhance target base of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) from 5 crore to 8 crore.The revised target of PMUY will be achieved by 2020 with an additional allocation of Rs. 4,800 crore. The revised target of PUMY will be achived by 2020. An additional allocation of 4800 crore. The decision comes in the wake of huge response to PMUY from the women particular in the rural area and covers such households not having LPG connection.
