What do you know about the 'Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana'? what are the features of this scheme?

Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) was launched in 2014 by honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the aim to develop one village by each Member of parliament as a model village by 2016 and two mare by 2019. The goal of Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) is to translate the comprehensive and organic vision of Mahatma Gandhi into reality, keeping in view the present context. SAGY lays emphasis on inspiring values of national pride, patriotism, unity, silf-confidence to be as important as developing infrastructure. In other words, SAGY attempts to develop the value chain through value change. Till now 702 Gram Panchayats have been indentified by Members of Parliament under Phase-1 and are taking concrete steps towards their development. 

Key objectives of this scheme

  • The development of model villages, called Adarsh Grams, through the implementation of existing schemes, and certain new initiatives to be designed for the local context, which may vary from village to village.
  • The Gram Panchayats adopted under SAGY prepared Village Development Plans containing Preoritized time-bound activities to achieve holistec progress of the village through convergence of resources.
  • Creating models of local development which can be replicated in other villages.
  • Prograss is measured through outcome indicators broadly covering basic amenities, education, sanitation, livelihood, women empowerment, financial inclusion, food secrity, social security and e-governance. 
  • The impact is measured on quarterly, half yearly and yearly basis.
