ENGLISH :NOUN (GENDER) Part-1

Genders tell us whether a noun belongs to the male sex , female sex or to  neither of the two .

There are four genders in the English languase 

1.Masculine Gender - Nouns denoting men and male animals belong to the masculine Gender .For example  - landlord , man , king , Kapil ,bull ,lion etc .

2.Feminine Gender - Nouns denoting women and female animals belong to the feminine Gender .For example  - lady , mother ,Gayatri , Lioness , hen , landlady , queen etc.

3.Common Gender - A noun which has the same form masculine and feminine is of the Common Gender .For example - teacher , baby , parent, worker , infant ,cook , cousin , student, person , human being etc.

4.Neuter Gender - A noun that denotes a thing that is neither male nor female , that is any non- living , is said to be a Neuter Gender .For example table , pen ,vase ,house ,shirt ,book etc.

Excetion : Ships are  normally considered feminine , and so are countries when referred to by name ; as
