The clean energy options are the measures of climate change mitigation .They alone cannot be enough to contain climate change. They have to be complemented with climate change adaptation measures.
Paris agreement has adopted an ambitious target of containing global temperature within the limit of 2 C. For that to happen Countries are expected to draw policies to achieve the target and send their INDC to UN. The mitigation effort includes;
1. Renewable sources of energy : Solar and wind energy are the most potent sources of clean energy. Globally, the transition to these sources is very fast. India has also decided to reduce the carbon intensity of its GDP by 33-35 per cent.
e.g in rewa 750MW solar power plant Madhaya Pradesh power tariff have reached at record low. Showing the huge potential and affordability of clean energy source.
2. Developing Carbon sink: Reforestation and reviving wet lands are also supplement clean energy sources.
But even with strong mitigation efforts, the climate would continue changing in the next decades and adaptation to these changes is necessary. Therefore, efforts need to be put on;
1. Building climate resilient structures.
2. Enhancing people's capacity
3. reducing vulnerability of people more prone to climate change
CONCLUSION:To, conclude, clean energy revolution though will reduce the ill effects of climate change but in the meanwhile efforts also need to be put on adaptation to climate change.
