At present, emphasis is placed in sustainable development. Sustainable development refers to building a path of development which also provides for environmental protection.
Today almost all developing countries are on the path of development and are emitting carbon in huge amounts. Similarly, the developed country is not ready to leave its materialistic lifestyle. Countries like the US are coming out of the Paris Climate Change Conference.
If this situation continues, then the existence of the earth will probably be in trouble. The existence of the earth will not be in crisis and at the same time, we will have to work on the following diligent strategies to continue on the path of development.
For fossil fuels, the use of fossil fuels will be minimized and more emphasis on renewable energy sources. The use of solar energy, wind etc. will be encouraged.
In place of private vehicles for transportation, more emphasis will be on public vehicles. In this regard, the use of CNG-driven vehicles, electric vehicles etc. will be important.
Sensitivities should be developed in people towards the environment so that they give importance to environmental protection themselves. There is a need to provide adequate space in the curriculum to develop sensitivity to environmental protection and to bring awareness.
Government offices should be supplied with renewable sources of energy such as solar energy in buildings and residential areas. This will encourage the general public to adopt renewable energy sources.
Equipment related to solar energy etc. should be made available to the public on subsidy so that they can use these tools without any extra burden.
Under the Public Distribution System, the government is provided Kerosene oil to the poor by the government. Appliances like solar lanterns can be provided to the poor in place of kerosene.
It must be made mandatory for each business establishment to compensate the environment which will be harmed by its activities or products.
All party consensuses should be made in relation to environmental protection and all political parties will have to take steps in respect of environmental protection by forgetting mutual differences.
A comprehensive awareness and plantation campaign should be conducted by adding NGOs, reputed people and film stars etc. in relation to environmental protection.
By working on the aforementioned written strategies mentioned above, we can move on the path of development while preserving the environment.
