The government of India initiate a Programme named 'Ayushman Bharat Programme'. How is it effective for the country's masses?

The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced "Ayushman Bharat Programme" on the birth aniversary of B.R. Ambedkar on 14th April, 2018 at Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. On 15th August, 2018 "Ayusman Bharat Programme" might get roll out for entire country. The main aims of this scheme is providing a service to creat a health, capable and content now india. It has two goals, first, creat a network of health and wellness infrastructure across the country to deliver comprehensive primary healthcare services, and another is to providing insurance cover to at least 40 per cent of country's population which is majorly deprived of secondary and tertiory care service.

During the budget 2018-19, the finance Minister mentioned new programme called "Ayushman Bharat Programme", Under this scheme two major heatth sector initiatives have been announced , which are

1. Establishment Health and Welness centers and 

2. National Health Protection Scheme.

Health and Wellness Centers :- While decoding the "Ayushman Bharat Programme" finance Minister mentioned that "Health and Wellness" centers will be established. These centers will provide comprehensive healthcare. These centers will also be responsible for providing free essential drugs and diagnostics services. 

National Health Protection Scheme :- This Scheme is also a part of "Ayushma Bharat Programme". The national Health Protection Scheme will cover 10 crore poor families. Under this scheme medical coverage of Rs. 5 lakh per family, per year will be given. This is going to be the world's largest government funded Health care scheme.

Objectives of "Ayuhman Bharat Programme"

  • Focus on wellness of poor.
  • Providing the medical benefit to poor families.
  • Establishing health and wellness centers at nearer distances, so that the patients may not have to travel a long distance. 

Key features of this scheme.

  • National Health Protection Mission will have a defined benefit cover of 5 lakh per family, per year.
  • Benefit under this schme are not limited to any individual hospital or branch. The patient can avail the benefit from any empaneled hospital across the country.
  • The patient can visit any Public and Private hospital for treatment.
  • In partnership with NITI Aayog, a robust, modular, scalable and interoperable IT platform will be made operational which will entail a paperless, cashless transaction.
