The International Solar Alliance (ISA) initiative was launched at the UN climate change conference in Peris on NOvember 2015 by Hon'bie Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former French President Francois Hollande. Both the countries' leaders jointly laid the foundation stone of the international solar Alliance (ISA) Headquarters and inaugurated the interim Secretariate at the ISA in National Institute of Solar Energy, Gurugram, Haryana on 25 Jaunary, 2016. ISA is an alliance of more than 121 countries, most of them being sunshine countries which lies either completely or partly between the tropic of Concer and the tropic of Capricorn.
1 st International Solar Alliance Summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron, along with several heads of states and government, symbolically launch International Solar Alliance. In the association of 121 countries, 61 countries signed and 32 retyified the ISA framework Agreement which is a reflection of common desire to significantly augment harnessing of solar energy, make joint efforts towards development and mobilize investment in the solar sector. This summit focus on various projects being prepared by different countries in areas including rural electrification, off grid solar power, water supply and irrigation. Our Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi shared 10 action points on solar energy while addressing the first conference of the international Solar Alliance in New Delhi. He said easy accessibility of better and cheaper solar technology has to be ensured. The International Solar Energy should be understood not only in India, but across the gobe and if the world connects solar energy with other technology then the result would by better.
Some key point about ISA.
- The primary objective of this alliance is to work for effecient exploitation of solar energy to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
- India is making fast progress in the field of renewable energy and has set a target of producing 175 GW energy by year 2022 of which 100 GW will be Solar energy.
- under this scheme India installing solar based street lights and the usage of LED bulbs in India about 2 Billion dollars have been saved.
- The french President said to achieve one thousand Billion dollar fund targeted by 2030. The alliance needs private investors.He said that the Alliance will provide a fevarable framework and improve regulations to encourage such investments. He call upon the member countries play their role in the process.
