Lakshadweep covers an area of 32 sq. km. It has a total of about 35 coral islands and islets rich in flora and fauna. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are larger in size and comprise 572 islands. Andaman is located in the north and Nicobar is located in the south. Located close to equator they experience equatorial type of climate and also have thick forest cover. Barren Islands of Andaman is India's only active volcano.
