JAHANGIR (AD 1605-1627) Part-2

  • Jahangir tried to conquer Ahmad Nagar but Ahmad Nagar's Wazia (Making Ambar) fought with Mughal armies strongly efficiently.
  • For fighting against Mughal Army Malik Ambar recuited Maratha's in his army and used Gurilla war tactics.
  • In 1622 Jahangir ordered Shah Jahan to as and over Kandhar but in 1622-23 Shahjahan revolted which was told to Jahangir by Mahawat Khan. Shahjahan demamded for Punjab and Rohtashgarh fort but Jahangir refused.
  • On 28 oct. 1627 AD Jahangir died in Lahore. He was burned at Shahdara near River Ravi.
  • Jahangir was known to Persian and Tarkish language. He wrote his Auto Biography (Turuke Jahangir in persian language).
  • Jahangir was the first ruler to invite his oicpict over the coins.
  • During his reign captain Hawakins (a representative of East India Company) came to his court at Agra. He asked for assest for trade by East India Company which was refused to him in 1611.
  • Assent to the factory of Surat was give in If 613 by Jahangir.
  • Sir Thomas Rao (1615-1619) came to his court as a messanger of King James 1. Thomas Roe meet Jahangir in Ajmer (1616). Jahangir provides him authorization for trade.
  • Revolting agauaga his own father starts from Jahangir.
  • Under the conservation of Jahangir sardar composed 'Sur Sagar'. Tobacco forming started during his reign.
