ILTUTMISH (AD 1210-1236) PART-1

  • He is considered to be the greatest slave king and the real consolidator of the Turkish conquest in India.
  • He made Delhi the caoicap in place of Lahore, son in law of Aibak.
  • Iltutmish, during the early years of his reign first consolidated his position by suppressing the revolt of the ambitious Nobels.
  • In AD 1215, he defeated Yaldoz, who established himself the independent ruler of Ghazni. He sent expendtion against the Rajputs in Ranth, Jalor, Gwalior, Ajmer and Makes.
  • During his period, the Mongols under their leader Changez Khan made their appreances for the first time in India. He saved Delhi Sultanate from the wrath of Changes Khan by refusing shelter to Knwarizm Shah, JalalJala Mangobanni, to whom Changez Khan was Chasing.
