Bhakra Nangal Project–
  • This project has been built on the Sutlej river in Punjab and Himachal.
  • This is the biggest multipurpose project of the country.
  • This is the world's highest gravitational dam (226 m).
  • The Govind Sagar Dam (Himachal Pradesh) is on this.
  • Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi and Himachal Pradesh are benefitted by this project.
Rihand Dam Project–
  • This dam is built on a tributary of Son River.
  • Behind this dam an artificial lake named "Govind Vallabh Pant Sagar" has been created.
  • “Govind Vallabh Pant Sagar” is the largest artificial lake in India.
  • It is situated on the border of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
Hirakud Dam Project–
  • This dam is built on Mahanadi near Sambhalpur, Orissa and it is the longest dam in the world.
