📝 Some Important Dam Projects 📝

Gandak Project:-
  • This has also been completed with the help of Nepal.
  • In this, the main canal has been taken out from the Valmiki Nagar barrage on Gandak.
Kosi Project:-
  • This has been accomplished in the state of Bihar in collaboration with Nepal.
  • This river is called the "Sorrow of North Bihar" due to the devastating floods.
  • In this, the main canal has been taken out from Hanuman Nagar Barrage (Nepal) on Kosi.
  • In future, there is also a plan to make a network by connecting the power houses of this scheme with the power houses of the Damodar Valley project.
Indira Gandhi Project:-
  • In this project, the water of Ravi and Beas rivers is brought to the Sutlej river.
  • A dam named Pong has been built on the Beas river.
  • Its main objective is to make new areas agricultural by irrigating them.
  • It is the longest canal in the world. Through which the Ganges canal of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan – Bikaner, Jaisalmer districts are irrigated.
