Expansion of English in Bengal Part-1

  • The English estemblished their factory at Bengal in 1951 AD after tajtak permission form Shah-Shuja.
  • In 1717 AD, Mughal Emperor Farukhsiyar gave business discount to Britisher on 3600 Rs. yearly as Tax. Aurangzeb made Murishid Will Khan Governor of Bengal in 1700 AD and in 1717 AD he became the Subedar of Bengal.
  • Murshid Quli Khan after having conflict with Ajimussaan (Grandson of Aurangzeb) transferred his capital from Dhaka to Murshidabad. After his son-in-law became Bengal's Governor.
  • In 1739 AD, Shujauddin's son Sarfaraj Khan became Governor of Bengal. During this time Bihar's Naib Subedar Alivardi Khan started Protesting. In battle of Giriya (1790 AD) Sarfaraj died and Alivardi Khan became Bengal's Nawab.
  • Alivardi Khan gained his post Bengal after giving 2 Crore bribes to Mughal Emperor. In 1756 AD, after death of Alivardi Khan his younger son Siraahuddaulah (chosen by Alivardi Khan) became Governor of Bengal.
  • In order to crush his opponent he detained his aunt Ghasiti Begum and Meet Madan Captain of place of Mir Jafar.
  • Nawab himself led to attack in order to possess Calcutta on 15 June, 1756. Calcutta's Governor Draka had to take shelter at Fulta Island. Mister Haalwell along with some of his supports surrendered to Nawab. After the decline of fort William. All the captured 446 prisoners were detained on 20 June in a gloomy room.
  • On 21 June's morimor only 21 people survived including English General Haalwell. English historians termed the event of 20-21 June as Kaal-Kothari Tragedy.
