REVOLT OF 1857 PART-1
On 29 March, 1857 Mughal Pandey killed British General Searyant hueston and leutenant bagh. Mughal Pandey was hanged on 8 April.
Revolt of 1857 was not just results of discontent of sepoys. In reality, Character of Colonial rule, their rules and days to these the discount among the people was the main reason.
From 1803 AD, Mughals Emperor lived under the conservation of British.
As Mughal Emperor represented the people so peolpe saw their offence in Emperor's offence hence they revolted.
Lord Dalhousie by his own policy marged Jaipur, Sambhalpur, Jhasi, Nagpur etc. in British territory and kicked out governor of Bengal and seized pension of farmer Peshwa. These reasons were enough to farmer Peshwa. These reasons are enough to spread discontent. Delhouise also seized royal titles of Nawab of Tanjor and Karnataka.
Farmer's were exploited by parmanent settlement, Ryotwari and Mahalwari system, They were dipped further in poverty.
Financial exploitation, wrecking of the basic structure of finance, made formers, hand scriptures and traditional Jamindars.
The results of British rule was that the export of cotton and silk cloth to British stopped. This was a bad impact on cloth business.
The means used to make Indians well behaved were also seen Skeptic.
In 1850, with the passing of Religious disability amendment of Christian were given right to take their patrons assests. They were also give increment in Jobs, entrance in educational schools and colleges. These rules finally made Indians mind to revolt.
Usages of Bullet embellished with cow and pig fat was the basic reason of revolt of 1857. Both Hindu and Muslims got angry. Regarding to it revolt of 1857 took place.
