Synaptic Fatigue : On repeated transmission of nerve impulses through a synapse, there occurs a temporary suspension of impulse transmission at the synapse, which is called synaptic fatigue. It results from an exhaustion of the neurotransmistters in the synaptic vesicles of the axon terminals. After some time, the neurotransmitter accumulates again in the synaptic vesicles and the synapse regains its ability to transmit impulses.
