In India fertile soils formed by the deposits left By The Rivers are found in the Northern Plains and in the coastal plains a black soil called regur is found in the Northern western part of the Deccan Plateau. It has been formed by the weathering of basalt red soil rich in iron oxides and having low water holding capacity are found in the southern and Eastern part of the Peninsular India.  Lateral soil are found in eastern and Western Ghats and in the part of North eastern India. These soils are readish as they contain iron and Aluminium oxide.Mountains are occur in the mountainous region and desert soil are found in the arid regions lying mainly in Rajasthan.
