4. The Chota Nagpur Plateau :- 

  • The Chota Nagpur Plateau sprawls over parts of west Bengal, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Odisha, and North Eastern part of Andhra Pradesh. The rivers which drain the Chota Nagpur Plateau are Barakar, Damodar, Subarnarekha, Koels.

5. The Meghalaya Plateau and Mikir Hills :- 

  • Consistings of the Garo, Khasi, Jaintia hills and the outlying Mikir and Rangama hills, it is a Plateau which has been detached from the Indian Penisular by the Malda Gap. The Mimir Hills are charcterized by radial drainage witb Dhansiri ans Jamuna being the main river.

​6. The North Deccan (Maharastra Plateau ) :- 

  • The plateau of Maharastra includes the entire state of Maharastra, except the Konkan coast and the Sahyadris. It is mainly covered by the Basalt of the Cretaceous Period. Through the Northern part of the Maharastra Plateau flows the Tapi rivers from the East to West.

​(i) The Mahanadi Basin : 

  • Sprawling over the District of Raipur, Durg, and Rajgarhs, the Mahanadi basin is also called as the Chhattisgarh Plain. The region is largely dominated by the Archaean and Cuddapah formation. The Mahanadi river and its tributaries like Seonaths, Hasdeo and Mana drain the plain.

(ii) The Chattisgarh Plain :- 

  • It is bordered by a series of hills and Plateau. The northern boundry is formed by the Lomari Plateau, Pendra Plateau, the Chhuri, and the Rajgarh Hills.

(iii) Garhjat Hills :- 

  • The Garhjat Hills are also known as the Odisha Highland. It is bordered by the Chota Nagpur Plateau in the North, Mahanadi basin in the West, Eastern Ghats in the South, and Utkal plains in the East.

(iv) Dandakaranya :- 

  • Sprawling over the Korapur and the Kalahandi District of Odisha, Baster, District of Chattisgarh and East Godavari, Vishkhapatnam and Srikakulam District of Andhra Pradesh, Dandakarnya is an undulatings Plateau.

7. The South Deccan :- 

  • The South Deccan consist of several Plateau.

(i) Karnataka Plateau :- This plateau spans in the state of Karnatka and the Cannanore and Kozhikode district of Kerala. This Plateau has an average elevations of 600-900 m. Mulangiri (1913 m) is the highest peak in baba - Budan Hills followed by the Kundermukh (1892 m) peak. It is drain by the Kaveri and the Tungbhadra rivers.

(ii) The Telengana Plateau :- The Plateau of Telengana consists of Dharwar and Cuddapah formation Hyderabad, the capital and the cultural city of the state lies in Telengana.

(iii) The Tamil Nadu uplands :- This upland lies between the south Sahyadri and Tamil Nadu coastal plains. The Charnockites are found in javadi and Shevaroy hills.
