The constitution of India provides fundamental rights, in which the freedom of religion is also inherent. The freedom to speak in the streams of the Constitution, as well as the division of executive and judiciary, and freedom of the country and inside, has been given freedom.
The National Human Rights Commission was established in 1993 under the Human Rights Protection Act, 1993.
It is the highest organization in the field of protection of human rights, which acts as a protection and propagation of human rights such as the life, liberty, equality, dignity of a person on the basis of the Indian constitution and international treaties.
The National Human Rights Commission is a statutory body formed under the Act passed in Parliament, currently it has a president and 4 members, for this reason it is a multilateral institution.
A Chairman in the Commission, who is serving the Supreme Court or former Chief Justice, serving as a member of a Supreme Court or former Judge, serving as a member of the High Court or serving as a former Chief Justice. At the same time, two persons, who have special knowledge in the field of human rights, are also appointed as members.
The President and the members are appointed by the President on the recommendations of a six-member committee headed by the Prime Minister.
Under the Public Code Procedure, 1908 (Code of Civil Procedure, 1908) the Commission receives all the powers of the Civil Court.
The Commission can hear and act on any plea filed by any victim or any other person on his behalf.
Apart from this, the Commission can interfere in any matter related to violence against human rights pending before the court by the court's acceptance.
The commission can inspect any prison by pre-reporting the concerned officers.
This Commission studies human rights related treaties, etc. and also gives necessary suggestions to make them more effective.
