The rebellion of 1857 is the separator line, JoJo separates the conservative movement of the era of the modern era from modern day modernist reformist and traditional movement. This rebellion disrupted the situation of the Muslims of North India to Cochin. The struggle of the Muslims with the British is unsuccessful on every front of the North West Frontier Province to Bengal. Now, after the need for adjustment with the vision of Western domination and Western intellectuals, changes in the attitude of the committee politics become necessary. At that time, the utterance of Sir Sadai Ahmad Khan, the other great leader of Muslim India, was incarnated. With open vision and extraordinary determination, he started his efforts in the direction of reforming the open opposition of conservative theorists and ignoring the intriguing ridicule of some close friends and associates.
At the time of the rebellion of 1857, he was in the judicial service of the company and has always been loyal to the government. After retirement he came forward in the role of social religious reform. His introduction of tehzib ul Akhlak, published in 1870, with his articles and other works gives an obvious intellectual and progressive nature of his thoughts.

He was of the opinion that modern education can be of practical use and scientific methods can be useful in improving the Muslim psyche. He came to the conclusion that only after getting Western education, the Muslim community can move away from backwardness and can negotiate with its rulers. He built a Muslim-dominated Aligarh town as the center of his activities, which is why Sir Syed's activities are famous as the Aligarh movement.
