Branches of Vedas

According to this, the ritual of Vedok yagna is considered to be the main use of the words of the Vedas. From the beginning of creation, there has been a diversity in the style, mementosity and action of Manterkalachan in general. Due to this diversity, the branches of the Vedas have expanded. As many as 21 branches of Rigveda, 101 branches of Yajurveda, 1000 branches of Samaveda and 9 branches of Atharvaveda - thus there are a total of 1131 branches. This number has also been mentioned by Maharishi Patanjali in his Mahabhishan. Out of the above 1131 branches, only 12 branches are available in the original texts:

  • Of the 21 branches of Rig Veda, only two branches are received - Shakhal-branch and Shakhan Branch.
  • In the Yajurveda, only the books of the 4 branches of the Krishna branch of the 86 Krishna branches are received - the Tattriya-branch, the companionial branch, the hard-branch and the Kuphinal-branch
  • Only 15 of the 15 branches of Shukla Jurveda have the textbooks - mediatory-branch and kanv-branch.
  • Only two branches of Samaveda have the text of only two branches- Kothum-branch and Zaminyi-branch.
  • Of the nine branches of Atharva Veda, only two branches are available - Shaunak-branch and Pappalad-branch.

Out of the above 12 branches, only 6 branches have studying style- Shakal, Taittariya, Medhindi, Kanvah, Kothum and Shaunak Branch. It would not be too inappropriate to say that some other books of other branches are available, but they can not get full introduction of the branch and the name of many branches is also not available.
