INDIAN RIVER SYSTEM PART 1

• If we say as 'the country of rivers', based on the lot of numbers of rivers flowing in our country, it would not be an exaggeration.
• There is an important role of rivers in the agriculture Economy of India.
• These rivers are vital for the preparation of social, economical, political & cultural road maps.

The Sindhu River :- 

• The origin of the Sindhu Rivers is near Mansarovar, at the height of 5,180 m. It flows up to about 320 km. in the west - North - west & then enters into the Indian regions of J & K.
• It passes through the Kailash mountain range with thunder bolt at so many places in the upper Sector & comes out near the Etak hills after flowing through Laddakh, Balteston, and Hanja & Gilgit.
• The tributeries of Sutlej, Ravi, Bias, Jhelum & Chenab makes a group of five rivers, which meet to the Sindhu near Minkot.
• The length of the river Sindhu is 2900 km. According to the water agreement regulations with Pakistan, India can use only 41,950 lakh m³ water from the total water immersion from the Sindhu.

The Sutlej River :- 

• The origin of this river is Raxastaal near Mansarovar, which is at the height of 5,000 meters from the sea levels.
• After covering the distance about 1,500 km., It meets into the river Chenab at the Southern border of Multan district.
• Ludhiana & Firozpur cities are located on the bank of Sutlej. Lenght of this river in India is 1,050 km. & flow area covered is 24,087 km².

​The Ravi River : - 

• The origin of Ravi river is located near the Rohtang detector in Kangata region of Himalayas. 
• It turns towards the South West near the Dalhousie & becoming a tributeries of Chenab, meets into the Chenab rivers near the border of district Jhang.
• It's length is 720 km. & the area of flow is the 5,957 km².

​The Bias River :- 

• It originates  from the Biaskhund. After turning towards the North West near Mandy, it reaches near the Shivalik mountains range at the Hoshiyarpur border & then meets into the Sutlej near Hrishikesh.
