The Narmada River :-
- This river originates from Amarkantak (at the height of 1,057 m ) of the Vindhyanchal mountains range. The flow of this river is from a narrow, deep & staright valley. It flows in the middle of Satpuda & Vindhyanchal & forms a fumy water fall in the mirble rocks of Bhedaghat, at Kapildhara in Amarkantak near Jabalpur.
- The water falls from the height of 23 km. here Distt of Bharuch in Gujarat. Then meets in the Bay of Cambay (Khambhat).
- The total length of this river is 1,290 km. (1,077 km in M.P). The drain area is 93,180 km².
- Narmada river flows are Mandal, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Hoshangabad, khandwa, khargon. & Gulf of Khambhat.
The Tapti River :-
- This originates from the height of 762 meters near Multai (Multapti town ), situated at the South of the Satpuda mountain in Baitul district M.P, which flows from the East to the West in Parallel with the Narmada & then falls into the Bay of Cambay near Surat.
- The total length of this river is 274 km. & the drain Area is 64,750 km².
The River Mahanadi :-
- An important river of irrigation is Mahanadi. It originates from the height of 42 meters near Sinhava in Raipur district in M.P.
- The major part of this river flows out side of M.P & falls into the Bay of Bengal near Cuttack after covering the distance of 890 km.
The Brahmaputra Rivers :-
- The origin of this river is a glacier situated in Tibet, which is in the Kailash range of the Himalayas Mountain at the height of 5,150 meters.
- It flows parallel to the main Himalayas Range up to 1,120 km. in the South Tibet, which is known as 'Sangapo'.
- This river enters into Assam after forming the various falls & generating spirls ways on the highlands. Here this is known as Brahmaputra.
- Thus, this river enters into the plane fields of Bengal after flowing through the areas near to the Garo, Khasi & Jayantiya hills.
- It becomes a tributeries of Ganga near Goalando after the Journey of 240 km.
- Here this river is known as Padma. Tista, Surma & Meghana are the major tributeries. Guwahati, Dibrugarh & Sekovaghat cities are located at the bank of this river. The lenghl of it is 2,900 km. & it's drain area is 3,40,000 km².
