Swadeshi and boycott movement

Swadeshi means - Use of manufactured goods in the country during the struggle. This encourages Indian industries and the nation becomes stronger. It was an effective way of raising patriotism. There was also slogan for promoting indigenous goods as well as boycott of foreign goods. It was emphasized that by boycotting foreign goods (most foreign items used to come from England) would have waned the economic interests of England and then the British government could be forced to accept Indian demands.

The indigenous and naive movement spread not only to Bengal but also spread to many parts of the country. British boycott of sugar and other items made people flock and went to the shops and requested the shopkeepers not to sell foreign goods. They stood outside the shops and urged customers not to buy foreign goods. The students of schools and colleges played an important role in this movement.

They started using indigenous items only and inspired people to not use foreign items. Many students tried out various ways of suppression by the government were fired from school colleges. Many students were beaten and put in jail.

The movement of indigenous and boycott is not limited to stuff only. Rather, the meaning of indigenous is all that is Indian. And in the end, I mean the boycott, all of which belong to the British rule.
