Introduction
Drilling means listening to a model, provided by the teacher, or a tape or a
and repeating what is heard. Drilling is a technique that is still used by ma
when introducing new language items to their students.
Harmer states that drilling is mechanical ways if getting students to demonstate and practice their ability to use specific language items in a controlled manner.
Drill method is also considered the combination of oral approach and structural approach.
Drill method state that we learn a thing by hearing, speaking, reading and/or writing it repeatedly. A thing cannot usually stick in our heads if we hear, speak, see or write it only once, only repetition can ensure retention. Until the thing to be learnt
known that we can instantaneously recall it when we need it, it is not really known.
In the case of weak, unimaginative teachers, this sometimes degenerates into mechamic repetition of what they want their students to learn. For example,
Teacher: This is a book
Students: This is a book;This is abook,etc
Advantages of Drill Method
The advantages of drilling are as follows
1) Drilling help our learners memorise language by the teacher's control

concrete on difficulties at the sometime.
Disadvantages of Drill Method
Drill mcthod has some disadvantages also
1) Drilling often make the students not very creative. In all drills, learners have no or very little choice over what is said so drills are form of very controlled practice
2)The teacher needs to handle the drills, so that the students are not over used and theydo not go on far too long
3) One of the problems about drills is that they are fairly monotonous
