Qualification to be President
- He should be citizen of India
- he should not be mental or insolvent
- he should not hold any post of profit
- minimum age to be president is 35 years
- he should be qualified for member of Lok Sabha
- candidate should proposed by 50 members from Lok Sabha and supported by 50 member of Rajya Sabha
(note:- Candidate should deposit 15000 rupees in RBI as a security if we can secure 1/6 of total vote then his deposit fees will be sealed)
Who can take part in Presidential elections
- all elected member of Lok Sabha
- all member of state legislative assembly
- all elected member of legislative assembly of union territories
- the presidential election is held in accordance the system of proportional representation by means of a Single Transferable Vote and the voting is done by secret ballot
who cannot take part in presidential election
- any nominated or appointed member
- any member of state legislative council (because it is present in only seven states)
