Functions of President

  •  President is the custodian of Indian Constitution
  • president has power to dissolve Lok Sabha
  • president can prorogue Lok Sabha without dissolving it
  • president address Lok Sabha on first and last day of Lok Sabha
  • president addresses first and last session of Lok Sabha
  • President nominate 2 Anglo Indian in Lok Sabha
  • President nominate 12 members in Rajya Sabha
  • president decide which area is scheduled area or    scheduled tribe
  • president has power to declare emergency in India

Appointment done by president

  • Prime Minister and council of minister
  • governor of state
  • judge of Supreme Court and high court
  • Attorney General
  • Comptroller and Auditor General
  • commander of Defence Force
  • U. P.  S. C Chairman and its members
  • finance commissioner and its members
  • Election Commissioner and its members

President have emergency power whether it is national emergency,  state emergency , financial emergency

President have  judicial power, military power and financial powers

According to Article 352 president of India can proclaim national emergency 

National emergency is being proclaimed 3 time in India

  • In 1962   
  • In1971 and
  • In 1975

state emergency can be extended for maximum period of 3 years with the approval of parliament in 6 month.
