Conjunctions : subordinating and coordinating

Conjunctions are used to join two or more than two words, clause, phrases, or sentences. They are also called connectors.

Eg.

1. Mohan and sohan danced together.

2. I went to see him but he was not there.

3. She said that she was busy yesterday.

4. Mohan is happy but Sohan is sad.

👉  The bold words in above written sentences are conjunctions because they are performing as connecting word.

Conjunctions are of 2 kinds:

1. Coordinating conjunctions : the conjunctions  which join the words,  sentences having equal rank.

As - and, both, as well as, not only but also, otherwise, nevertheless, consequently, either.. or, neither nor, therefore,so.

👍Note: coordinating conjunctions are used in compound sentences.

2. Subordinating conjunctions : The conjunctions which used to join the sentences that are dependent on other to take their meaning.

As- because, as, since, if, though, that, as long as, in case, so that, which, when, when, where, why how, how, as though, till, untill, unless, after, before, that.

👍Note: subordinating conjunctions are used in complex sentence.
