Definition : A clause is group of words containig a subject and a finite verb which form is the part of a sentence.
Clause = Sub.+ Finite verb
He asked /when you came.
👆Above written is only one sentence but two clause :
👌 He asked is principal clause.
👌When you came is subordinate clause.
Kinds of clause
Clause are of 2 kinds
1. Subordinate clause : they are made with the help of subordinating conjunction.
Eg. When, as, because, why, etc.
1. I will go when he comes.
2. He asked why you did not come.
2. Coordinate clause : They are made with the help of coordinating conjunctions.
Eg. And, but, therefore, as well as, not only but also etc.
1. Mohan and sohan went to market.
2. He is rich but he is not satisfied.
3. Mohan was ill therefore he took leave.
