Verb : Transitive and Intransitive

Transitive verb:  A verb which takes an object to make its sence is called a transitive verb.

Eg.

1. The man killed a  snake. 

2. The boy open the window.

3. The boy kicks the football.

👉Note: The above sentences, the verb contained an object as no. 1 a snake, No 2. The window, no. 3 the football. Hence these verb  are transitive.

Intransitive verb : A verb which does not take an object to complete its meaning called intransitive verb.

1. The man died.

2. The sun shine.

3. The girl slept away.

👉Note : If verb follows a preposition then it is called intransitive.

Eg. 

1. They killed the bird with stone.

2. We eat to live.

3. He goes for walking early in the morning.

Note bolt written word are preposition hence these verb are not said to be transitive.
