Suppositional Sentence जैसे- if, as if, as though, if only, suppose, I wish, We wish, He wishes, She wishes....... से शुरू होते हैं, इससे कोरी कल्पना या असंभव शब्द का बोध होता है । इन शब्दों के बाद किसी भी Number तथा Person के Subject का प्रयोग क्यों नहीं हो, फिर भी Plural Verb 'were' का प्रयोग होता है जैसे-
I wish Manisha were my wife. (सही)
I wish Manisha was my wife. (गलत)
If he were my boss, he would suspend me. (सही)
If he was my boss, he would suspend me. (गलत)
Note - जबकि Conditional Sentence ' if, as if, as though से शुरू होते हैं, इससे वास्तविक स्थिति का बोध होता है । इस केस में if, as if, as though के बाद प्रयुक्त Subject के Number तथा Per के मुताबिक Verb का प्रयोग होता है जैसे-
If you come here, I will teach you. (सही) neha looks as though she has been working. (सही)
RULE-6
Optative Sentence में Singular Subject के साथ भी Plural Verb का प्रयोग होता है। जैसे-
Long live our friendship! (सही)
God save the king! (सही)
Note - Optative Sentence से इच्छा का बोध होता है, कभी-कभी May Optative Sentence में नहीं दिया रहता है जिसे हम लोग केो understood कर लेना चाहिए।
