The Adverb

Read following sentences : 

  • He saw me yesterday.
  • She is extremely tired.
  • Only Veena can do this work.
  • They ran fast.
  • Mohan is strong enough to lift this burden.

☝️Above written bold letter are adverb.

Def. -  An adverb is a word which qualifies of  a verb, an adjective, or another adverbs. And they also modifies preposition, conjunction, noun, pronoun etc.

Eg. 

1. He walk slowly.

2. The boys ran fast.

☝️ Qualifying verbs, as walk and ran are adjective.

  1. He is very good.
  2. She is extremely beautiful.

☝️ Qualifying adjective, as good and beautiful are adjective.

  1. I write very carefully.
  2. The horse runs very fast.

☝️Qualifying adverb, as carefully and fast are adverb.

  1. The kite flew exactly over my head.
  2. She parked her car just at the gate.

☝️Qualifying preposition because over and at are preposition.

  1. He hates her simply because she drinks whisky.
  2. Mr. Karma reached the station a little before the train left for.

☝️Qualifying conjunction, as because  and before  are adverbs.

  1. Only Veena can do this work.
  2. Even she comes late.
  3. At least you should come here.

​☝️ Qualifying noun, pronoun, as Veena is noun and she, and you  are pronoun.

Note : only, even, and at least are the adverbs that qualify noun and pronoun while  adjectives  qualify noun or pronoun.
