Planning without an objective is like driving without any destination there are generally two set of objective for planning namely the short term objective and long term objective why the short term objective vary from plants to plan depending on the immediate problem faced by the economy the process of planning is inspired why certain long term objective.
- High rate of growth:- All the Indian five year plan has given primary importance to higher growth of national income during the British rule Indian economy was stagnant and the people were living in the state of object poverty the Britishers exploited the economy both foreign trade and colonial administration while the European industry florist the Indian economy was caught in a vicious circle of poverty poverty and measuring problem that has to be tackled through five year plan
- the second plan has the target of 85% in national income over the period and the third five year plan and to secure an increase in national income of 5% per annum
- during the third plan the national income increased only by 11.2% IV plan has visualised to attend the growth rate at 5.7 % per annum but it remained at 3.4 % per annum gennext sixth five year plan achieve the growth rate of 5.2 %
- Similarly seventh plan has achieved an annual growth of 5% a plan has 6 the target 2 of 5.6 % similarly the ninth planet achieving the growth rate of 7% per annum
- raising investment income ratio:- achieving a planned rate of investment within a given period to bring the actual investment as proportion of national income to higher level has been regarded significant due to two reason first such an increase in output capacity is deemed to be needed to increase the output secondly it is needed to bring that capital stock of the economy to ensure the growth of future output capacity
- Social Justice:- another major objective of Indian five year plan is to provide Social justice to common plan and weaker section of the society however the Social Justice implies reducing the income inequalities and removal of poverty these two aspects have been well dealt in various draught of Five Year Plan in our country
- removal of poverty:- up to the end of the fourth it was the problem of poverty in V plan there was the visible shift in the approach which resulted in the minimum needs programme similarly 7th 8th and 9th planet strength for the removal of poverty in the country
- full employment :-unemployment problem is a chronic problem in underdeveloped countries to India has emerged as a new developing country yet it is in the grip of acute problem of disguised unemployment thus the crucial objective of Indian.
