The Ministry of Agriculture and farmers welfare has released the final estimate for 2017 and 18 and the first estimate for 2018 and 19 of the area and production of horticulture crops
Funding from the estimates
- India's Horticulture production is estimated to rise by 1% to record 314. 6 7 million tonnes in 2018-19 on higher area
- the final estimate of the 2017-18 Horticulture production student record 311. 7 empty which is 3. 7 percent higher than the previous year and 10% higher than the past 5 years
- the estimates put forward that area under coverage increase 25.87 million hectare from 25.43 million hectare
- the production of onion in 2018-19 is likely to be around 23.62 million tonne as against 23.26 Mt in 2017-18
- the production of potato 2018-19 is likely to be around 52.58 MT against 51.31 MT in 2017-18
- the production of tomato in 2018-19 is likely to be around 20.51 MT against 19.76 MT in 2017-18
- the production of fruits is estimated to be at 97.35MT and that of vegetable at around 187.5 MT
